    out of nowhere my wireless won't work i have tried something i read on this site by Master Green:
    Hi,
    Since Windows Vista is relatively still new to alot of us, many are still trying to figure out these things and I am one of them...In regards to yours, I can only suggest an idea to see if that is or is not what's happening...Last night I tried to gain access to the "run command and control panel" on a computer that has Windows Vista and was greeted with blank screens...So if you would please scope out the following steps and see if it helps:

    (1) Right click the start menu and click on properties.
    (2) Click the start menu tab, then customize button.
    (3) Click advanced tab.
    (4) Look for control panel and put a check mark next to it, click ok.
    (5) Click your way out and try accessing the control panel again.
    Note: Please keep in mind that I am trying to recall these steps from memory so please allow for a mis-step if there should be any.

    You can also try looking into this, more info i came across relating to what appears to be a similiar situation to yours;
    The reason for this is not a virus or other malicious problem (although it never hurts to check!) but often results from an erroneous resetting of the Global Policies for the machine. Global Policies control (among many other things) the availability of certain icons from the Control Panel, and if reset or set incorrectly they can suddenly render the whole Control Panel inoperative.

    To fix the problem, log in as Administrator, go to Start/Run and type GPEDIT.MSC to launch the Global Policy Editor. Open the path User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel from the tree diagram in the left-hand side of the Policy Editor. On the right-hand pane, double-click "Hide specified control panel applets" and select Disabled. To be doubly safe, double-click "Disable Control Panel" and select Disabled, and do the same for "Show only specified control panel applets. "

    Note that if you want to hide or reveal Control Panel applets through this mechanism, you can of course do so as well. If you select Enabled from "Hide specified Control Panel Applets" and then click Show | Add, you can type in the name of the .CPL file to hide (with or without the .CPL extension).

    There were no matchings for "GPEDIT.MSC" so i'm not sure what do do about that, and the first thing, control panel already had a check. i unchecked and checked it again just in case, but that didn't do anything. So i have no wireless and cant get into the control panel and when i right click the desktop, personalize does nothing. I'm almost positive that there are no viruses on my computer. i'm running a brand new acer with intel dual core 2.2, 320 gig, 4 gig hard drive or whatever. I just put trend micro on it a couple weeks ago. and everything runs smothly and quick except for thos things. I did have trouble with running a regestry clean, it was finding tons of this wow6432node and i researched that and got rid of that by removing the second one, got the answer for that from the vista site, and it worked, but now a couple days later i have these issues all of a sudden. one minute it was all fine then minutes later no good. please help,

    I think you should post the wireless problem in the Network section of the forum. Regarding Control Panel, try one or more of these:

    1. If some items are missing, click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don’tload and delete items in the right pane that you want to see in Control Panel.

    2. If Control Panel is not appearing at all, click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. In the right pane look for NoControlPanel, right-click it and make its value 0 (zero). If you are denied entry to regedit it’s a classic symptom of infection.

    3. This may help with Control Panel problems, have a look here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=936686
