I just plugged a Linksys PCI wireless G card into my Wyse Winterm running Windows XP Embedded. It's a stripped down version of XP intended to connect to a server. Like what they use a Sears.

It's got 248 MB of RAM and 256MB flash memory (no hardrive). I'm using a 2MB USB thumb drive for extra capacity.

After installing the card, I disabled the write filter then loaded just the drivers from the CD.

The problem is this version of XPe is the Service pack 1 so it doesn't support WPA encryption which is what I have my router set to. And when I goto Windows Update website it won't allow me to download any updates.

It will connect fine to my neighbors unencrypted network using the XPe wireless program.

So I ran the installation CD by placing it in my main computer and installed the Linksys program on my Winterm through my network then copied the folder over to the USB drive.

Now running the Linksys utility I can still connect to my neighbor's network but when I try to connect to mine I get the error message:

You are connected to the access point but not the internet. Then it flashes "Cannot associate with the access point" back and fourth.

If I try to disable the Windows wireless utilty, the Linksys utilty says "NO association with access point" in big red letters ".

That's sort of odd because it appears both the Windows and the Linksys utlities have to be running at the same time wheather the Linksys utility is in control or not.

Is there anyway to install a Windows patch so I can connect to my encrpyted network? Or is there a shareware program that I can use?

I don't know what the issue is with this Linksys utility.

This is a stripped down version of Windows so I get allot of error messages because of missing drivers and such.
