I changed from a netopia wireless router to a more powerful Intellinet 802.11n to faciltate a new windows 7 pc which I will be using some distance away from the modem.

There seem to be no problems with the windows vista laptop, the imac, ipods and even Nokia 63 maintaining a connection to the internet through the router but connection through the windows pc is intermittant, flicking on and off constantly. When it works the signal is strong with 10 -15mbps download. Sometimes the computer will pick up the router but say it is not connected to the internet. The pc is from dell and came with a wireless network card. I have done all the usual resets and troubleshooting and fixes suggested by Microsoft (it seems windows 7 has a problem with wifi). I use a vista laptop to connect to the router and installed the driver on this, do I need to install the driver on the PC also? Do I need to bring the PC to the router and plug it in through a wired connection to do an initial set up? Is the problem with the wireless network card?

Hi Tony, The router is on the ground floor of the house plugged into the access point. The pc is 2 floors up, almost directly above. Dell have replaced the wireless card in the pc and it is now picking up better signal from the netopia router. The intellinet router still doesn't work and if anything the problem is worse with the new wireless card. I have given up on the intellinet and am using the netopia, with a network bridge through the laptop if I need faster download speeds. The intellinet works fine with all other computers in the house, just seems to have a problem with the windows 7 pc. I reset the intellinet with the PC using the network bridge, it seems to me that there is some kind of incompatibility between windows 7 and the router. Our other computers run vista, XP and Macos.
