I have recently setup a home wireless network using Netgear WGR614 and Netgear WG511. But I can't find any information on how to setup the printer or printing from the laptop to the desktop (connected to printer).

    No network experience.

    Both machines on XP.

    WEP setup, connection excellent.

Setup is; cable modem - router - desktop - printer
    wireless card - laptop

    Please help

If you can see the desktop PC in the laptop's network neighbourhood, all you should need to do is share the desktop PC's printer.

To share the printer, right click on the printer and select share. Give it a simple name (HP610 for example). It should then appear in network neighbour on the laptop. Double click on it and the system will set it up for you.

I can't see the desktop, only "shared docs on laptop" (my network places)
and only "bridge network" "wireless connection" "llocal connection" "1394 connection" (network connections).

I haven't a clue what "1394" is or "bridge" or if they are needed.

Sounds like I've missed something in setup, could you please tell me what should be done - and how to.

    Your help is very appriecated

    Cheers

Run through the Microsoft Guide to Home networking and check that you have everything set up correctly. This guide also explains how to set up print sharing. However, from your description, I think you may not have the networking side of things working properly yet so start from Part 5 and work your way through to Part 8.

    thanks Reggie

I followed it upto part 5 (not far into it I know) down as far as "adding network Components - Client for Microsoft Networks"

After I clicked Client, a popup screen said "Windows was unable to find any drivers for this device" "If you have a disk that contains the updated driver ...... click OK "

Got any idea what drivers it's on about "windows XPpro disk" "netgear disks" ?

    cheers Reggie

Client for Microsoft Networks is part of the Microsoft networking services and should be on your OS disk.
