Hello all. I have a XP desktop and a HP nx6110 dual booting between windows XP and unbunto linux. I have built in wireless in the laptop and a wireless card in the PC. What I am wondering is if there is a way to setup wireless internet acces for my laptop without having to get a wireless router. I have comcast router running to my cable modem, that runs to a switch. (I have it running to a switch because I need the other computer on a the network to shares file inbetween) Is there a way to use the wireless network card in my desktop to provide internet access to my laptop without having to get e wireless rotuter or access point?

    Thanks all!

PS. I have read a few guides that had to do with using ICS but when I turn it on it kills my internet. Im assuming because I have to use a comcast assigned IP address and ICS requires a differnt one

Yes it is possible. You can use wireless cards peer-to-peer (sometimes called Ad-hoc mode). However, getting it to work is not a trivial task and I would strongly recommend you invest in either a wireless router, or a wireless access point.
