    Hello,

I been having a problem for several months now that I cannot seem to resolve. It started when I replaced my router and I cannot figure out what is wrong.

I had all of my PC's (4 desktops and 2 laptops all running Win XP Pro) connected via a workgroup so that they could share files and printers. Everything worked fine until I replaced my router with a Netgear WNR3500.

Now, all of my wired PC's (3 of the desktops) can talk to each other via the workgroup, but all of the wireless PC's can no longer see any other computer on the network. All of the wireless PC's can still access the internet with no problems.

I assumed that something must have changed on the wireless PC's, but I did not make any network configuration changes to all 3 of them. I have checked settings and double checked and everything seems fine. I have checked online and everything that I can find that I have tried does no good.

What I am hoping is the key to all of this is that I discovered that if I connect my laptop via ethernet to my router, it immediately is part of the workgroup and I can see the other wired PC's and copy files, etc. I do not need to reset anything on the laptop, as soon as it is physically plugged in, it is connected.

This tells me that it has to be something with the router and wireless connection, but I cannot find anything. I have read that some routers have modes that prevent wireless connections from accessing other network resource, but I cannot find any kind of setting in the router config that relates to this.

I have compared my network settings between my eithernet adapter and my wireless card on my laptop and they are virtually identical...I see no differences that could cause this problem.

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide. This is driving me crazy. I apologize for the length of this message, but I wanted to give as much information as I could.

    Thanks,
    John

Access the router control panel via the Web browser and check the security settings pages. The router is probably filtering something.

Thanks. I will check that again, but I have been through my router configuration many, many times and have not seen anything that would be causing a problems. No filtering, no blocking, nothing.

I will post again after I have had a chance to check the configuration again....
