    Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem. I got a netgear router that was supplied to me from comcast. I connected the router to my desktop that runs windows xp. I am trying to get internet via the router and the netgear wireless adapter wna1100 to my other pc that runs windows 7. I do get the internet but it runs so slow is there anything that can be done so my internet would be a little faster? Is there a booster available and if so what kind. Thank you for any help in this matter:confused:.

Correct me if I have this wrong. You have the XP PC connected with a cable to the router and you want to create a wireless connection between the XP and the Win7 PC's. Both PC's will need to have wireless adapters for this to work and you need to set up an Ad-Hoc connection on both.

The speed of your internet connection is controlled by your Internet Service Provider, do you know what speed you should be getting.

    Hi

I have the router connected between the cable modem and the XP computer and the I have the wireless adapter on the Windows7 PC I do understand that the connection is controled by my ISP but since I have Comcast high speed I should be able to get a faster speed then what I am getting on this PC. I thought that there might be a booster available.

To connect your windows 7 PC to the wireless router open Device Manager, Network and Sharing Center, from the left pane Manage Wireless Networks. Right click on your wireless network and select properties. Under the connection tab check the box for "Connect Automatically when the Network is in Range ", clear the other two boxes.

Reboot the PC and you should find it has a connection.

Besides just marking your thread as solved, would have been nice to post your resolution.

Control Panel->Network and Internet->Manage Wireless Networks

From there you can rearrange the order of preferred networks or remove unwanted profiles.

EDIT: wiltse2, please don't hijack other threads, you should always start a new thread when asking for assistance.
