The configurations of ADSL Modem Router: Netgear DGN2000, wireless setting: Up to 270 Mbps WPS/WEP. It's working very well with TP-Link Wireless-N card at 300Mbps.

The problem: HP Pavilion dv6-1244TX (Centrino 2) with Windows Vista. From Start > Computer > right-click Properties > Device Manager, the Network adapters include Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN, the following settings found:

802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4 - Value Auto
802.11n Channel Width for band 5.2 - Value Auto
    802.11n Mode - Value Enabled
Wireless Mode: Value 6. 802.11a/b/g (there is no option for 802.11n)

From HP website, I couldn't find the technical specification of Pavilion dv6-1244TX. How come?

The current wireless speed between the HP Pavilion and the NetGear modem router is between 38 Mbps to 54 Mbps.

Can any one help to increase it to 802.11n with 270-300 Mbps?

PeteC, thank you! It's the same link I searched a month ago but couldn't get more than the headline text during the last two weeks. But it came back now...though still very slow after the headline text.

HP Service Hotline called me back twice and couldn't give the tech spec to me!

Under the spec, the Wireless technologies is described "INtel WiFi Link 5100" without further mentioning a, b, g, n or n draft. It seems that HP knew this problem ahead... or just changed the spec... It should be more specific a month ago on the same link.

In a nutshell, 802.11n will be available when it is ratified. That implies that 802.11-whatever-n is not yet available though hardware is there.

    Thanks.
