How do you remove the icons in the systray "notification area" that are put there by the wireless keyboard?

It doesn't work to choose "always hide" in the customize section. They still come back.

    Thanks for your help

I don't know which make of wireless keyboard you are using - my MS wireless desktop does not put an icon in the Notification area,

Best suggestion is to go into any software you loaded with the keyboard and see if there is an option not to show the icon.

  3. to hide this advert.

The CD is only an installation CD and doesn't show any instructions.

I googled for Compaq wireless keyboard and didn't get any hits for removing the icons

    Any other suggestions ?

Sorry to confuse you :) I should have expanded that comment ....

Go to Control Panel and double click on the Keyboard icon which should open up a small window with a number of tabs in which you can set up the keyboard or get an indication of wireless and battery state (certainly on an MS keyboard). Work through there and see if there is an option to show/hide the Notification Area icon.

Alternatively a right click on the icon in the Notification area may well bring up a menu which will take you to the same place + maybe other options.

Curious to know why you want rid of it?

When I open the Control Panel all I get is the speed and hardware tabs.

Properties of Hardware only show driver choices.

Right clicking the systray brings up the same control panel box.

The reason I don't want these icons showing :
    1. They don't do anything.
    2. I don't like my systray cluttered.

    Thanks again

Sorry, Judy - all I can say is that the icon is shown there 'by design' and is written into the code.
