I am running two laptops off a wireless connection however, whenever we turn on our new Mac the wireless connection does not work for the Mac and if my Dell is currently connected it sometimes kicks the Dell off the network. This only started after I bought the Mac and set it up to the wireless network. Our previous Lenovo did not have this problem. I also have a Playstation 3 but that always connects. DirecTV is connected to the router via hardline.

    I have a Dell E1505.
I have a new Mac Book Pro (maybe 4 months old).
    Wireless Router is a Netgear WGT624 v3.

Again this problem only occurred after we bought the Mac. I can turn on and connect the Dell always without a problem. If I turn on the Mac with the Dell off it will sometimes connect. If the Mac is connected first the Dell usually connects without a problem but not vice versa. In order to get the Mac and/or Mac and Dell to connect I have to restart the router (router and modem both plugged into powerstrip, I restart powerstrip). Restarting the router always allows both to connect. I have noticed that whichever computer is started first, that they both try to connect to the same port xxx.xxx.x.4.

This has been driving me crazy, constantly restarting the router but it's the only way I can get the computers to connect.

    Thanks for your help.

Just a wild guess - your Mac is using static IP instead of dynamic IP. Change Mac to get its IP address through DHCP.

You should also increase the DHCP IP allocation range of your router. You may have set it too low.

The Dell is set up to use DHCP.
The Mac is set up to use DHCP.

I actually tried to use a static address for the Mac with a different address other then the xxx.xxx.x.4 hoping that the Mac would not conflict with the Dell but that didn't work.

I logged on to my router and checked the settings and didn't see anywhere that allowed me to change DHCP IP allocation range. Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your response

So I went to the LAN IP setup, turned on each computer, and registered an IP address for each computer. I have tested it a few times now and both computers are connecting no matter which is turned on first. I think I am solved. Thanks for the help WindowsBBS!

Sorry we've been away for the holiday weekend. I turned on the Dell today and it did not connect. I had to reset the router again. Later in the day I turned on the Mac (Dell off) and it also did not connect, I had to reset the router. With the Mac turned on the Dell did connect. The Dell is connected to 1.4 and the Mac to 1.3. In the Netgear router setup on the LAN IP Setup page I set up an address reservation of 1.4 for the Dell and 1.5 for the Mac however, although this worked on day 1 it does not seem to work now. On the LAN IP Setup page it is still selected to use the router as the DHCP server.

    Thanks for the help.
