Hopefully someone out there can answer this one for me.

I am trying to sync a 360 wireless controller and 360 wireless headset to the Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. However, when you press the button to start the sysc at both ends, the lights start flashing, which i guess to be normal based on the 360, then the light on the receiver turns solid indicating a successful pair. The 360 controller flashes a completed circle and doesn't change to a single quadrant solid light light. This in turn suggests an unsuccessful pairing.

I guess the only thing i should mention is im using the Microsoft Wireless Media Desktop 7000.

    Many thanks in advance.

Well, I have no information for you, other then that it works fine for me. If the controller doesn't pair, I'd try to use it on another system (the x-box) to see if it works there...

It pairs fine to my 360, i just can't get vista 64bit to pair with the controller or the headset. I was looking through the system, and there is an error report which was sent to MSFT for the wireless receiver. I wonder if it is a driver issue?

Don't ask me about 360 controllers :D although my first step would be a complete uninstall and reinstall.

If there was a problem with the initial install, an update might not be able to fix it.

mmmm?....if you have UAC (User Account Control) disabled, re-enable it when you install again.

    My 2 cents.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled once or twice (or thrice :) ) with Vista. I will keep trying if there does not seem to be a readily available fix.

MS will start getting a database of problems in Vista as problems arise. Uninstall/reinstall, my first port of call. If you miss the boat, you may be stuck :D

    Trouble

I un-installed the app then installed it again. I am pressing the button on the receiver until it blinks then I am pressing the button on my controller until it blinks in a rotating pattern. But when both devises stop blinking the controller still has four blinking lights, not the rotating pattern when it tries to connect. What is going on???? Is their something wring with one of the devises?

mathewpb sent me PM to have a look at this, but as I explained I don't have an Xbox :)

I found instructions at the Xbox website:
    here:
    http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/accessories/wirelesscontroller.htm
    Maybe helpful:
    http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/console/troubleshootingFAQconsole.htm

It might be a little fussy about the amount of time you hold down the connect button/s.

There are forums at that website, a search in them might prove useful.

Let us know if you can lick it :)

    Same Problem

I have exactly the same problem as the other guys have and ive got Vista 32-bit. I think its absoloutly ridiculous for microsoft to make an in-house product that isnt fully supported with vista yet MONTHS after its release. ITS MADE BY MICROSOFT! I find that in order to get the bloody thing to work after it doesnt recognize the controller you have to uninstall it from programs, then go to device manager and manually uninstall the reciever, and the recognized controller (last entry under HCI componant). After doing this you have to unplug the reciever from the USB port, restart, then install the drivers again, THEN plugin the reciever and turn on the controller and it works. You better enjoy it whilst it lasts though, because as soon as that controller goes off the signal is lost between the reciever and the controller and you have to repeat the reinstall all over again. Great job on supporting vista microsoft!
