    Hello Everyone,

I currently have a home LAN with three computers connected to a four port hub and a cable router which is connected to a broadband cable isp. Everything is running fine so it is time to creat chaos. I would like to add an additional desk top computer and a laptop to the net, however I would like to use a wireless connection for the two additional computers. What I would like to know is as follows:

Is it possible to add the two computers with just two adapter cards for the desktop and the notebook and one access point?

    Or

Do I need to have two access points to bridge into the wireless system?

Perhaps I should mention that I want to end up with the five computers integrated as three hard-wired fast internet connections and 2 wireless connections.

    Thanks for any help.

    Paul

Not really that up on wireless access points but from what I read, a single WAP should be able to handle a few clients. At least some can and 5-10 users per WAP isn't unusual for larger networks.

With it plugged into the open switch port you have, you should be good to go.

It is possible that any WAP can deal with several clients but I'm not at all positive about that.

While I was searching I did find a listing for the Linksys BEFW11S4 for $80. It has features you probably don't need right now but who knows about later on. WAP + 4 port switch + router. If it will handle multiple wireless clients you could just use a crossover cable to connect it to the open port on your current router/switch and be good to go.
