    Hi,

I'm using WINXP SP3. The last few days I've noticed a problem. If I have a file on my desktop and right click on it, it will crash explorer.

I get the error message that states:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "

    AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: kernel32.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 0000cffd

Any idea what the problem might be or how to fix? I haven't tried system restore yet and I don't have an XP CD. The only thing's I've downloaded lately were some windows updates.

    Thanks!

Actually I found the problem myself with a little bit of Googling. I downloaded a program called ShellExView and ran it and then disabled items in the list until my right click menu started working again.

The culprit was PowerDesk zip extension, which is part of a file manager that I've been using for years. Not sure what caused it to hose up everything but I'll either try re-installing or leave it disabled. I don't use the zip portion of it anyhow.

Just thought I'd post the solution here in case any one else has a similar issue.
