winxp sp2 formatting issue

    Hi guys,
    I am a newbie.I have a HP Pavilion dv2500 laptop.I am trying to run win xp sp2 setup.But for some reason after the setup asks to install fresh copy and i press enter...It gives message " setup did not detect any version of OS on the hard-drive "..In fact i am able to format using win7 and win vista an win xp sp3.But not using sp2.....I even used different cds but the same result.I am stuck.Please help.

    Hi amitkanade, welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    It sounds like your XP SP2 disc is an upgrade rather than the full version, can you confirm if this is the case.

    Another question, if you can install the XP SP3 version why don't you?
