I don't know what I did but my logon screen has changed , when I turn on my computer , in the past I use to get a screen with 3 users and I could chose one of them to log in the Windows , now I get a small window with user name like it was in Win2k , may be somebody can tell me how can I correct it.

    Thank's

Actually the same thing happened to me on my laptop. Fired it up one day and the standard W2K like login appeared. Dave's suggestion didn't work for me.
The other week I didn't even get the classic login prompt. It now logs straight into XP! We didn't use a password, and only have one login with administrator privileges other than the system Admin account, so I'm not worrying about it.

Paul, I am running XP Pro SP2 and when I installed the serivce pack for .Net framework I booted directly into XP. I thought something had gone terribly wrong and restored my computer - tried again and the same thing happened. I am the only account on the computer apart from the overall Admin. and have discovered the service pack install changed the screen from the one I used to see (same scenario on my laptop)

    Well done miniB,
You're right it must have been the .net framework sp1 install. Well sleuthed! :)

Not to be out done, :D I did a bit of sleuthing myself.

The second half I think applies to us.

I think I'll leave mine as is. But nice to know.

Thanks for the actual link Paul (bookmarked this ;) ) at least the 'stress' of wondering what I had done wrong has helped to put both our minds at rest. I will be leaving mine as it is unless I discover a reason I need the screen back again.

SP2 stole the 'XP Professional' screen on bootup and .Net stole our little login screen

    Thanks, guys, another mystery solved.

Until .Net, my welcome screen poppud up with the box ready for my log on password. Now, I have to click on my pic, despite being the only user on this computer. I've tried everything to "fix" it but uninstall .NET, which I only use for two applications. Hmmmm... Just might, to see if that fixes it.

    Thanks all who posted!

Johanna, have you installed the service pack for .Net as this will take away your click on 'little picture.' When I just had the .Net framework it installed the little picture style login but when I applied the service pack (It was issued independently of SP2 as it covered SP1 installs - sorry cannot find the KB number just now) my computer boots straight into XP now with just a brief 'welcome'

Edit: just found the link SP3 for .Net

    Thanks!

At least you will not be in panic mode like I was when my 'click on picture' vanished ;) hope the service pack will have you booting into XP.
