    HELP !!!!!

I am having problems setting up my internet sharing. I have run the wizard setup and I beleive all is ok. I am connecting a laptop with Win98 to my host computer running WinXP. I can see traffic going out from the win98 machine but nothing comes back. I have the icon on the lower right task bar showing my connection. Any thoughts on this you can share with me.

    Thanks,

    Brian

If you used the networking wizard that XP builds, it may have caused a problem.

Even though it will say you have a disk that will set up other OS versions, they often don't work well and you need to do the network settings by hand.

To clarify for myself, are you running ICS (internet connection sharing from Microsoft) and using XP as the host and 98 as the client?

This may not be of any help-but.......
Not sure how you have things set up. My XP machine has two ethernet cards in it-the ME machine one with it running through a hub to this XP machine. This morning the network was working beautifully-but somehow the second network card that connects to the internet through a cable modem had become disabled though I have no clues how-I normally have two activity icons on task bar and I only had one.

The internet connection was not working - took a while before I noticed only the one icon-as soon as I followed this through and enabled it my internet connection started up again.

bacplc - try the instructions Here. They give detailed instructions for setting up with XP as host and various (including 98) as clients.

The instructions looked very clear and pretty good to me. If they work for you, let us know. It will be nice to have a place to point folks who are having the issue.

If they don't, we can do some troubleshooting and find out where the problem is.
