I use the win98 startup CD to load command with CD support

    then using

    [cdrom]:\i386\winnt.exe

to install clean windows xp on formatted HD

The installer hangs after copying files to the (new formatted) hard drive.
is there a log or something i can view to see what the problem is?

copy \i386 to the c: drive or clean the cd u'r using.

curious as to why u can't just boot an xp cd and do this entirely from there?

if u DO a c: install, i'd opt to at least load smartdrv or setup a config.sys w/ 50 buffers or such ... or it'll be slow to install

    thnx,

    solved

it wasn't actually hanging afterall, the cd is a bit scratched so it just read really slow. Once I loaded the smartdrv the install went fine. A couple files couldn't be copied but that hasn't seemd to affect anything... yet...
