winxp 'fastfat.sys is corrupted' cant boot!

    win xp wont start ot boot or even setup! invalid systejm disc for a:\ and c:\ so i tried setting up from cd again but when it comes to loading the KERNEL SECURITY PROVIDER it then hangs with the message FASTFAT.SYS is corrupted press any key to restart... help!
    I have access to a laptop with a cd burner so i can download disks if there is any that could possibly help me?

    A Google search has pages on this problem - looks like it could be a memory problem.
