I am migrating from Win98SE to Windows 2000. I've reinstalled all of my software, and problems occur with only one item (or two -- I'll raise the other issue another time). I have installed W2K with SP2 and Microsoft Office 2000 with SP1. Every program with Office loads properly except Word. I get:

    "Program Error

Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created. "

What the heck is this? And where is the error log? And why only Word?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Word. Same issue. Help!

To view the error log in Microsoft Windows 2000, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
    2. In the "Search for files or folders named" box, type "Drwtsn32.log" (without the quotation marks).
    3. Click Search Now.
    4. Right-click the file, and then click Open on the shortcut menu that appears.

NOTE: The Drwtsn32.log file is located in the following folder by default:

      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson

      [/list=1]

Dumb question...did you install the SP for W2K before or after Office 2000? There is an Office 2K SP as well...

Last but not least, you may want to try the Internet Explorer SP2 that upgrades to IE 5.5 ...

Don't ask me why, but the Service Pack 2 for IE fixed my Word problems....!
