    The above page has a discussion on this, found it using google, seems to be spyware. No solution was posted there.
    A possible solution would get a win98 bootdisk and rename the file in dos. Before you do this, look in the System Configuration Utility [msconfig.exe] and see if it is started from there, uncheck if it is. You didn't give the name of the extension, I am guessing it is exe. At the a: prompt type in;

    c: <enter>
    cd\windows <enter>
    ren winupie.exe winupold.old <enter>

    What would be curious if it is in ME's System File Protection, you'll find out when you take out the floppy, boot up, and it appears again. I would rename it first, in case of system problems. If nothing happens it can then be deleted.

    Hi Dna2k3

    Is it possible you misspelled winupie?

    In any case make a list of what starts up with windows and look in addremove to see if anything their is sucpicious,and tell us..

    "tried to remove it with add and remove" do you mean cntrol panel addremove programs ? if so how is it listed there exactly?

    Start run type msconfig hit enter, click the startup tab
    write down everthing you are not sure about --include right and left colums, for instance
    scanregistry c:\windows\scanregw.exe/ auto run

    Then hit cancel

    "i tried spyware removers " " whicth ones and what versions?

    be sure to update and run you're anti virus program!!!

    where did you see these other posts?

    Lonny

    Edit==============
    whoops I see a pro has stepped in and posted at almost exactly the same time-- I'll lurk wait and whatch

    That would definitely do it. A bit drastic. Unless you have a Restore Point dated before this occurred, but I think you would already tried that.
