WinMail Email compose button doesn't work

0S - Vista home premium 6.0 SP1
WinMAil for Email
from the Windows mail screen I click on the contacts and the list of contacts appears. I select a specific contact and that contact appears in the right-hand pane of that box. I then click on the e-mail button and the circular cursor runs for half a second and nothing else occurs. In the past, clicking on this button opened a blank e-mail form with that person's address on it. Have tried the following:
rebooted computer
restored system to a point over 30 days old
unable to identify a specific time that this started happening

Any suggestions appreciated

 

What happens when you compose first then add the address?
