Winfixer trouble, full details inside

Hey, just like to say Hi to everyone. I've been here before. This is a great help forum, Noah saved me once, but i come to you experts once again. Over the last few days, these Winfixer ads have been popping up like crazy lately. I was pretty confused why so i ran all my anitvirus/adware/spyware programs today. I have adware, spybot, spyblaster, and mcafee secrurity center which has the virus scan and firewall. So i ran adware first, it said my computer was clean. Than i ran spybot and it found 3 winfixer files, i deleted the files. Than 5 minutes later a winfixer pops up. So I run my Mcafee Virus scan, its up to date. So it finishes running and it finds 4 files listed as Virtumundo. So i delete them and reboot my computer. I just want to make sure with you guys, the experts, that my computer is free from any other problems.

I had the same problem. I went onto symantec (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.virtumonde.html) and downloaded both removal utilities. I was able to remove the Trojan.Vundo removal tool and them remove the Adware.VirtuMonde removal tool,(they are two distict removal files). Once yoour run the executables, it will let you know if there your have the virtumonde or Vundo infected files. I ran hijack this before uninstalling and found that i had the infected file in

C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/ssttr.dll

i ran the Trojan. Vundo removal tool and it worked

WEBROOT SPY SWEEPER
and virtumonde was removed.

I did get this error right after i restarted the computer

0000219 {Fatal system Error} the windows logon process terminated unexpectedly F0x0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000) the system has been shutdown. I


I restarted the computer and it said the infected file (ssttr.dll) had been removed. I then ran Webroot spy sweeper, TREND MICRO (ONLINE SCAN) and PANDA SOFTWARE(online scan) and nothing came up.

I ran Hijack this and i didnt find the ssttr.dll file.

Up to date i have not had any popups (winfixer)

 

Hey, I'm back, so jeep, i downloaded the 2 programs you recomended, i restarted my computer in safe mode and ran both programs, both ended saying I had no virtumundo software, so i than ran my mcafee virus scan which is up to date and after it was done, i found 2 virtumundo files. I deleted them both. After that, i ran spybot and after that was done, it found a WInfixer file, which i deleted it. Than i ran adware and it found nothing. So i restarted my computer. Here's my new Hijack this log, i want to make sure with the experts on this forum that my computer is free from any other junk.

This is a search hijacker. Get rid of the entry via HJT and delete the .dll file

This is about 99.9% probably another baddie so HJT to remove the entry but maybe rename the .dll rather than deleting it. cwdphelj.dll-bad will do it but you will still have the file in the unlikely event you need it later.
