Hi all I am having a prob with my computer...winfixer 2005 keeps popping up....I have no idea about hijack this but I downloaded it and did a scan here is the log.....

I'm not sure what is ok and what to delete can you help please???????

 

Here is what I found about this. It's a lot. I hope it helps.

Download Process Explorer by Systernals:http://www.sysinternals.com/files/procexpnt.zip

Also download KillBox by Option^Explicit: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe

Then boot up in SAFE MODE

The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of jkhhf.dll once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of the jkhhf.dll's under winlogon click OK.

Also look for any .ini or bak files or other dll's with either the same name or the file name in reverse & kill them as well.

Record the name of any of these files found so you can remove them in the steps below.

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of jkhhf.dll then click the kill button.

Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you have done that click OK again.

Next run HijackThis and place a check beside each of the following.

Now click fix checked and close HijackThis.

Please copy the text in BOLD below, and paste it into a blank notepad window.
Save it as vundo.reg and in the save as type box choose all files.

Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now run killbox and paste The FIRST ONE of these lines into the box, select delete on reboot then press the red X button,say yes to the prompt but no to reboot now

Then continue to paste the lines in in turn and follow the above procedure every time, If it says file is missing, or if it says unable to delete then make a note of the file name and let us know when you reply

Then repeat by typing in the full name of of any of the reverse named .bak or .ini or other files that you discovered in step 1.

After you have input the last file name then reboot.

 

Uninstall Weatherbug from Add\Remove Programs, it is adware.
Unzip HJT into it's own folder, it works better this way.

Open HJT, and click on 'Open misc tools section', then click on "Delete a file on reboot', a File Open window will appear. Copy/Paste the following into it.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkhg.dll

Then click on Open, and you will be prompted to reboot, select No at this time. Do the same for this.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qapng11n.exe

Rescan with HJT, and remove these items with all internet browsers and windows explorer windows closed.

Reboot into Safe Mode.
Delete all files and folders located in these folders.
C:\Windows\Prefetch
C:\Windows\Temp

Delete this folder.
C:\Program Files\AWS

Delete the Temporary Internet Files, be sure to have the box checked for "Delete Offline Content" when you do this, you have some baddies in there.

what kind of problems with desktop are you asking about? I did all that you said and its still there here is my hjt log oh i didn't uninstall weather bug i like it and never have a prob with it

With it running on your system, cleanup of winfixer could be impossible.

 

Just to clear up any misunderstandings, Weatherbug has gone to great lengths to clean up and become de-rated as adware. It is ad supported, but does not cause popups or allow the installation of other malware, or inhibit the removal thereof. Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.

• Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
• Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options... "
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp! "
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

When the scan completes, click Save Report and place it on the desktop. Post the contents of that report here, along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

HJT is probably having trouble with the long strings in the entry. Copy the contents of the quote box below to a blank notepad. Make sure the formatting remains the same.
Close it, saving to your desktop as:

File name: fix.reg
Save As Type: All Files

Double click the file and allow it to merge with the registry. Reboot and make sure the previously mentioned Temporary Inernet Files\Content.IE5 folder is empty. Rescan with HJT and post a new log.

Yes, you can delete the reg file.

Limewire, like most any file sharing app, is an open window for infections. You are not only connecting to someone else's computer to transfer files to your's, with no way of knowing those files are clean until you have them, you are allowing a direct connection to your machine from literally tens of thousands of other computers on the net. While you're possibly only sharing the one default shared folder Limewire creates upon installation (usually the same folder you download files to), a good hacker could potentially use that connection to access other files on your PC. Frankly speaking, you're safest bet for getting music would be through purchase from somewhere like Walmart.com, where you can get individual songs for like $.88 each. More and more recent lawsuits in regards to file sharing make it much safer to purchase also, as opposed to being prosecuted for theft.

Yes, it appears the infection is gone. One other thing I wanted to check though.........the version of Java installed. Please open the Java Plug-in in the control panel and check it's version, then let us know what it is.

Is that what is listed in the Add/Remove Programs applet? When you open the control panel, there should be an icon for the Java Plug-in. Open that, then look on the About tab for the version. It should be something like 1.4.2_05. That's what I need. While you're there, click the cache tab and then Clear to delete the temporary cache files.

I recommend you uninstall the java Runtime Environment and download/install the latest version.

I also recommend you download and install SpywareBlaster. Enable all protections, check for updates and enable them too. Then download IESpyad.exe, double click to extract (it extracts to C:\IESpyad by default), open the folder, double click the ie-ads.reg file and allow it to merge into the registry. That will give you some added layers of protection against unwanted parasites.

No check necessary.
