Hi guys i recently installed (a few days ago) WinXp x64 on my new hardware and clicking on user accounts in control panel gives me a script error 9 out of 10 times.

    Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script in this page.
    Line: 4
    Char: 1
    Error: Access is denied
    Code: 0
    URL: res://C:\Windows\system32\nusrmgr.cpl/nusrmgr.hta
Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page?

I have looked up the error in the Microsoft knowledge base and it says Microsoft recognizes the problem...lol.. but no fix since 2004.
I am not sure why this is happening to me i have installed windows twice and the system is clean and the error is present regardless of what i do. I have read online that some people have had success byre moving IE7 and reinstalling it other by just removing it, nevertheless the problem is present.

    Please guys help me out..

    Thanks
    Pete

    From HERE

How to stop the Internet explorer script error message from showing up:

You can tell your Internet Explorer to ignore these errors when they occur and not show you an alert about them. Here is the procedure:

    * Open Internet Explorer
    * In the top menu, Click on Tools and then Internet Options
    * Click on the Advanced Tab
    * Find where it says "Disable Script Debugging" and tick the box beside it
    * Now, Find where it says "Display a notification about every script error" and untick the box beside it.

What to do when you get an Internet Explorer script error in Control Panel when opening User Accounts:

You get a script error in Control Panel when clicking on User Accounts and see:

    Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script in this page.
    Line: 4
    Char: 1
    Error: Access is denied
    Code: 0
    URL: res://C:\Windows\system32\nusrmgr.cpl/nusrmgr.hta
Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page?

And the option of pressing Yes or No, no matter which one you press the User Accounts dialog opens anyway.

There isnt really a fix for this error, it seems to be an undocumented error in Windows XP SP2 but there is a way to avoid it. Simply dont press User Accounts many times. If you press it 3 times or more it will occur.

What to do if you are still getting errors
If you are still getting errors even after disabling them in IE, then it is possible that you have some adware installed.

Thanks for your suggestions broni, unfortunately neither one of those things solved the problem and its worse then i thought bc i get the same script error sometime randomly. I left the system on for a few hours and came back to find a script error waiting for me of the same kind.

The internet explorer options suggested above were already that way by default and saying the error is due to malware/spyware is impossible bc this occurred on this system right after a clean install and was duplicated after i repeated the install again for verification.

There must be a way around this, this didnt happen when i had the x86(32 bit version) i wonder why its happening here.

Thanks guys and let me know

That's XP x64 for you

Don't expect much in the 'fixes' department there. If you want to run x64, you should use Vista x64 IMHO.

Which MS knowledge base article did you see?

That's not your problem. if it is, then just do not click User Accounts in Control Panel many times in quick succession

Have you tried running sfc /scannow from a command prompt?

I just got finished running the sfc /scannow as well as a full system virus and spyware scan. Both have not helped...
Is it possible this hardware is to new for the older OS ?

    Any other suggestions...?

I guess i will have to look into in going to vista, it doesn't seem there is any support for the older versions of win anymore.

    thanks
