I now find that the method of removing updates no longer works using the cmd. The information provided in another Thread when entered is rejected by cmd. Thank you.

Hi BobbyScot. Are you talking about removing a Windows Update or clearing your Windows Update history?

Which thread are you referring to?

My sincere apologies. I refer to Windows Update History. Thanks Bobby.

To remove entries marked Failed, but realise all entries are removed with the procedure. It maybe best to leave as is, made to believe that the Directory refers to contents of the Windows Update History. Thanks Bobby.

I believe there is an option to HIDE updates... Go have another look. I'm on XP right now and don't have access...

BobbyScot, I'm on W8.1 and the route > Start > Control Panel > Program and Features > Show installed Updates (Upper left side of pane) ---- Does exactly that!
This view of the Updates - does not show any "Failed" updates - it shows ALL installed updates in the order they were installed.

    I don't know whether this is a feature of W7 as I haven't checked.
I seem to remember another member wanting to 'remove' the record of "Failed" updates from his comp.
Under Windows Updates - it shows everything that has occurred when you look at the "View Update History ". But using the above W8.1 method above, it shows the correct viewing only.

Hope this will clarify the point for you and it may convince you that W8.1 is AOK. :D Neil.

Neil, checked your suggestion on Windows 7, unable to see as current. It must be only with Windows 8, mores the pity. Thanks Bobby.

I tried out the last suggestion by SpywareDr and it certainly carries out what I required in the first place. All entries in the Update History have been completely removed and was then checked for Windows Updates that showed all updates were up to date. Thank you, appreciated.
Can I say, this procedure to remove Windows 7 Update History, is not for the faint hearted among the membership. Still worth a try.
