Greetings -- I know this is not a CITRIX forum, but I'm doing this to learn whether there are any settings inside Windows that would cause this behavior....

I'm thinking that CITRIX Receiver has a mind of its own, and will do as it pleases, regardless of configuration. I've done all below:

I've set the key, "Proxy Type" equal to "None" for:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Lockdown Profiles\All Regions\Lockdown\Network\Proxy

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Lockdown Profiles\Trusted Region\Lockdown\Network\Proxy

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Lockdown Profiles\Untrusted Region\Lockdown\Network\Proxy

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Lockdown Profiles\All Regions\Lockdown\Network\Proxy

    No proxy set under netsh

No proxy set under Internet Explorer Control pannel

No proxy set under 32-bit IE

No proxy set under 64-bit IE

    No proxy set under Firefox

I did a "reset Receiver ", which removes accounts, settings, etc etc....

After all this, Receiver still insists on sending a CONNECT request to the proxy (verified with WireShark).
Does anyone have any ideas as to anything else in Windows that would cause it to intercept the communication and send it to a proxy...?

[this thread moved to the Other Software Forum]

Do you have Citrix configured as you want it?

Yes! Your system admin at work may have Citrix configured to use a proxy. The Citrix client on your computer must connect to that proxy. The proxy will only get used when running the client, it won't get used by other applications unless your computer is mis-configured.

Please state why you are using Citrix client.

TonyT -- The proxy is enforced at a Windows / IE level. The registry entries when I first saw them either were empty, or they indicated that they should use the 'system proxy.' Given the layout of our network, the CITRIX traffic must not bounce off the proxy, because the CITRIX server is on the same LAN as the clients. -thus no proxy needed... The Receiver is used as the client-of-choice that we use to access CITRIX. Lastly: I solved the problem! I think I found one reg entry that I missed before, and I added the IP of our CITRIX server to the reg key that allows it to bypass the proxy. WireShark now shows that I'm going direct to CITRIX on TCP/1494 now, and I "m not sending packets to the proxy anymore..... It wasn't straight-forward though -- I shouldn't have had to dig thru the registry & ini files to adjust the proxy settings. <grin>This isn't 1995 anymore, I shouldn't have to dig thru INI files & registry to configure the app...</grin>
Also, forgot to mention that our CITRIX environment on the server-side is fully operational, and supports 50-60 simultaneous users.

    Well done!
Just curious as to why the need for Citrix at all on a LAN. Why that level of security on a local network?

I understand your question now.. --My employer runs an application that lots of people need, and rather than installing it on many many computers, we install it once, then have everyone log into CITRIX to get to that app. --lots less maintenance that way. Windows is all properly licensed for this method, otherwise we couldn't move fwd with this. I'll mark the thread as solved, as indicated. thanks!

    Thanks.

I'll bet some employees or mgmt or IT folks need to connect remotely, thus the need for citrix level of security, else using the built in Windows remote desktop would suffice.
