Is there a simple answer to the question
'Should I install Windows XP or XP Pro?'

    dkelley3 - Welcome to the Board :)
Home is basically the same as Pro, but lacks the additional security features of Pro and facilities like Remote Desktop. For home users who simply use a computer Pro is overkill, but if cost is not important and/or you are seriously interested in computing go for Pro.

My (simplistic?) view is that Pro is for companies, who have corporate networks and all their problems. If you're like me and just plug away at home (or a one-person business), stick with XP-Home.

Pro is also excellent for households with children since the security features are much richer. I'd suggest that version for either a single PC in such a household or if several computers and networked, at least for the parent's PC(s).
