I have Windows XP Sp 3 home and professional on all my computers. They all have updates. All are backed up.

In the future, when Microsoft no longer supports XP, and if for some reason the backups were not available and I had to rebuild XP from the installation disks, would it be possible to obtain the updates? All the update files are stored in the computer, so if these were copied and stored elsewhere could they be used in some way?

    Hi sdculp.
Yes, you could still visit the Windows Update website and download all of the Windows Updates from there.

Yes, you could download all the updates individually if you wanted to and transfer them to a backup drive if needed. After Windows XP support ends though I would not want to have Windows XP installed on any of the machines because Microsoft will stop fixing security holes in the OS and it will be very vulnerable to security threats.
