   hoping someone can help, our computer sporadically decides to work normally, but has periods of several days where it wont go past the welcome page and just goes black....anyone know what this may be due to?? and how to rectify it??

   First step check out your hard drive using the disk manufacturer's diagnostic soft ware - DOS version if available .....
   
   Disk Diagnostic Software ....

   Samsung
   
   Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum
   
   Western Digital
   
   You should always maintain a current backup of your data on independent media - if you do not now would be a good time to start
