Windows XP SP3?

    My Windows XP auto update just prompted me to install SP3, should i update it from SP2 to SP3?

    Hi jAsOs, yes to your question but, please make sure your comp is clean. Do a scan with your AV program to ensure no malware/trojans/worms etc.If you Scandisk and Defrag it will ensure no problems.I have SP3 on 5 Home comps and if everything is clean, auto update will install OK. Neil.:D

    And remember to unplug from net & shut off your anti virus and other antispyware utils. Some of them can trash the update.

    Please take the time to backup all of your personnel data ... music, pics, emails, WORD Doc's, ect. Better yet an image backup of system drive.

    This looks like a minefield when we've all added our bits, but if you follow the info slowly and take your time it's no big deal. I apologize for not stating about shutting down all AV and Spyware systems and disconnect from your Modem/Router if you Download SP3 first and save to Desktop. Make sure there are no Scheduled Tasks running and you can install from there. Neil.:D

    I've followed all the steps and managed to install it without and problem. Thanks alot.
