OK I have installed v11. but, some of my .wav files will not play. WMP says I'm missing a codec. while other .wav files will play with no problem. Got any ideas? DPI

I installed the pack and am still getting the same messages. WMP puts out this message "An audio codec is needed to play this file"
and the web page puts out this one " You've encountered error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player ". My sound card is "MaxBlast and SIW says it's driver is installed with a 000 status. Other software plays the file without problem but WMP won't. DPI.

Ok open Windows Media Player 11. When its open click Tools< Options. Under the player tab where it says Automatic Updates set that option to once a day. After that make sure the Download Codecs Automatically checkbox is checked. When thats done click apply and ok. Restart Windows Media Player for the changes to take effect.

I did it and am still having problems this is the last error I received.
"80040200 An invalid media type was specified. ". This is real frustrating to me because I don't know what is going on under the WMP covers and being an old mainframer that could look at the code is making me CRAZYYYYYYYY. DPI

Ok open up Windows Media Player again. This time click Tools< Options< File Types Tab. Once you click on that tab make sure that ALL the file types are checked and selected. Alternatively you can click the select all button. When thats done click apply and ok. Restart Windows Media Player. Did that fix the problem?

If you still experience the issue then take a look here, Guide To Error 80040200 and 00040257 In Windows Media Player.

By the way does the computer have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed?
