hi i recently got an external dvd rw drive, an LT black one. I had trouble installing it has none of my cd drivers worked. I managed to fix this problem and now have all my cd and dvd rw drivers working, I have 2x cd rw drivers with one of them being a combo drive that plays dvd’s. the problem I have now is that wenever I open up a media player program such has realone player 8 or musicmatch jukebox my pc just shuts down! Then when I reboot it says that the system has recovered from a serious error.

These files have the error report, C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini052204-04.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Robert\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml.

I have tried 2 reinstall the service pack 1 on my windows xp pro and it was ok after that then again the problem happened afterwards

The specs on my pc r 130GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 9800 pro graphics card, 2.8 p4 and a soundblaster PCI card…. Hope this info is clear to u guys and hope u can come up with some suggestions, thanks………..

jonneymendoza - Welcome to the Board :)

The next time this happens post an Error Report here in this thread ....

Right click My Computer Icon > Manage > Event Viewer > Application and System. Open each and look for error messages starred with a red X at the time the error occurred. Open the error message by double clicking on it and, if relevant copy it by clicking on the icon below the up/down arrows and paste it in a reply to this thread.

Pete, I can't do that - clicking on the text icon does nothing. I can export the log to a .txt file.

Not particularly interested in fixing, just to let others know that if for whatever reason its not working for them, there is the "export" option.

    Regards - Charles

EDIT: Mystery solved. Have to bring up worpad or word or notepad and paste.

LOL, be nice if there was a little dialog box there

    Charles,

I guess I should have expanded the comment in that clicking on the icon copies the message to the clipboard, from whence it can be pasted into a reply here, notepad .....

Moving this thread to Hardware with title edit

If you go into Device Manager and Expand the DVD/CD-ROM Drives entry you will see your drives listed - CdRom0 is usually the first listed, but you can check this by right clicking on the drive in the list > Properties and look at Location.
