Hi plowboy19, Welcome to Windowsbbs. If you haven't got a disc you are deep in the brown stuff. Do you have a backup disc? Did you make a Slip-streamed copy while the system was running?
If your answer is no - then I would suggest E-Bay or Trademe would be your best bet, unless there maybe some Computer shop with XP Pro discs for sale still. Cheers Neil.

    plowboy19,

If you have the XP sticker or somehow can get the serial no. of your windows, you may be able to save the cost of buying a new copy. Just make a copy from your friend XP disk & use your serial no. while installing.

Some further information on 'crashed' would be useful - what happens when you boot the computer up? Any error messages?

Exactly what happens when you try?

Will the computer start in Safe Mode?

Your issue may be hardware related rather than software - so more detail please.

What are the details/specifications (model number, etc) of the computer? Is it an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) computer like a HP, Dell, Emachines, Acer, etc? It may have a recovery partition on the hard disk drive. You may not need a Windows installation disk.

As mentioned, if you tell us what happens, we might be able to help you avoid reinstalling.

    Matt
