I encounter the CHKDSK problem at Stage 3 of 3 every time I startup my Windows XP professional OS. This action will cause my computer to hang.

If you have a Windows CD, boot to that. Choose to go to the Repair Console. Run the command chkdsk /r.

If you have a manufacturer's recovery disk, not a Windows CD, you will need to go to the manufacturer's website and see if a similar repair option can be carried out.
