I didn't really post a very specific thread yesterday the question was "what is the redirection software that is used for Windows XP, NT & 98? The question I'm really asking is what is the (protocol) that is used to set up Windows XP, NT, & 98 and also Novell and Unix?

    Otherwise:

Windows versions you mention will do
    - TCP/IP
    - NetBeui (specific to microsoft)
    - IPX/SPX (not Novell's but will work with it)
    - Apple Talk maybe - not used it and not sure which versions
    - and other, less common ones

    Novell - version dependent
    - IPX/SPX will run on all of them
    - TCP/IP will run on some newer ones
    - Maybe other stuff. I haven't done Novell in years and not a lot then

    Unix/Linux
    - TCP/IP
    - IPX/SPX
    - Apple Talk
    - and a few somewhat esoteric/unusual protocols like AX.25, PPP, SLIP, PLIP

This would all be lots easier to answer if you gave a clue what you are trying to do.

    Additional info from opydke:

"This question Is for my networking class, My Instructor asked for us to find out what redirection software is required to set up these programs Windows XP NT 98, Novell and Unix? Heres a statement as it reads "Network redirection software is shipped with your desktopOS; however, it must be installed and configured like any other application. OS vendors use different names to describe their redirector's, "such as requestor" shell (Unix) Client forMicrosoft networks (Microsoft windows), or Client for Netware(Novell Netware). A client redirector must be compatible with the networking software used by it's servers and peers. Thus, if the networks servers are using Windows NT server software, the client workstations must use Client for Microsoft Networks. "
