My Windows XP Pro box needs to be restarted sometimes after software installations, it goes to the restarting screen, redlight on the front blinks for a few seconds then stops. The screen stays the same. I am able to move the mouse but the computer does not restart.

I was trying to figure out what files Windows XP is shutting down to complete the restart but can't find any resouces on it.

Anyone have any suggestions that I may try.

    Thanks everyone
    Dave

    Repair XP

Sometimes a program, bad driver or conflicts that destroy or corrupt files will necessitate a reinstallation. WinXP will replace damaged or corrupted files without disturbing your data or registry settings so that these will still be available to you.

    1. Boot from the WinXP CD
    2. Select set up WinXP(ENTER)
    3. Windows will find an existing copy of itself and give you the option to repair the highlighted installation
    4. WinXP will copy the necessary files to your HD and install
