I have a Korean Windows XP SP2 installed on a notebook. I wanted to add this computer to the Workgroup network within our corporation. I did change the settings from Domain to Workgroup. Now the problem is I cannot login. Its original password is not accepted. The Administrator account may not be activated.

I tried to go through the safe mode (including the command line prompt) but it keeps asking for password.

I need to restore windows to 1 day earlier. Is it possible? How can I do it?

    Hi piwolly,

How did you change from domain to workgroup ? Did you have the password for the domain ? Were you logged in as a Domain Administrator user ?

Administrator account is always active on XP computers but it may have a password. Ask you sysadmin for help.

Its not possible to restore windows as you don't have the Administrator password & even then it would not help you as Domain authentication would fail.

    rsinfo,

I changed from domain to workgroup. the domain had its password. that password was also used for normal loging into windows xp. when I was changing I was logged in with an ID that had administrator's privileges.

it's kind of hard to get the sysadmin's help right now, even though i have sent my message to the person.

Why would the safe mode also be blocked by a password, when normally it does not require so.

Very bad security practice, unless you have a very valid reason for doing so.

In safe Mode also, you have to login into an account & if that account has a password, XP wouldn't allow you to login without it.
