    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
    use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 00000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
    Arg2: f7717d70
    Arg3: 00000000

I just recently went through a battery of random bluescreens. one of them pointed to ntfs.sys, that's stating it crashed while reading off a disk drive basically. If it's happening at random times, it might be a memory issue, if you have more than one stick of memory, try removing the memory stick from the primary slot, as this is often the first one to get corrupted. try running your system for a while without this stick. If you get immediate errors, try removing a different stick.

You can also attempt to run a chkdsk on your system, you can look at other posts on your options for running a chkdsk. I would first look at another dump log to see if ntfs.sys is the main catalyst to your bluescreens, if it changes then it's most likely memory failing when running that operation.

I'm not an expert, I've just lived through this a bit. These would be my first suggestions.

    Im not really sure..
The last owner had it, and it was stable. All i did was replaced the hd and did a clean install. Since then its been restarting...w/o warning. At first i did have a old soundcard and old wireless device. BUt i have replaced these and still it restarts. So im not sure what is going on, but i will switched the memory sticks to see if any changes..
    thanks though
    mike

Hi and welcome to the BBS,
Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and find updated chipset drivers. Look into other major drivers starting with the graphics.

If you installed Windows with the second HDD attached, I suggest disconnecting it and doing the installation again. You can reconnect it after Windows is running.

    Matt
