    Hello,

I was installing Windows XP on a machiene.

I booted up from the CD and Formatted the HDD.

Windows XP installation Setup was copying all the files it needed and was ready to reboot the computer.

It rebooted and all and after a momment i thought the Windows XP splash screen would come up to complete the installation, but what came up instead was an error:

    COULDNT OPEN DRIVE MULTI(0)DISK(0)RDISK)PARTITION(1)
    NTLDR:COULDNT OPEN DRIVE MULTI(0)DISK(0) RDISK(0)PARTITION(1)

Thats the error. I tried everything like changing the boot order to this:

    CD rom: first
    Floppy: second
    HDD: third

I changed the IDE cable and all that. And i keep getting the same error.

Thanks and it would be great if someone helped out.

Check the jumper settings in the back of the drive.
Is the drive set to auto detect in the BIOS?
Delete the partition, repartition and then reformat.
