Ok; I'm new to this but I am at my wits end. I re-installed Windows XP to my emachine. NAturally Windows didn't boot up due to Sys. 32 drivers were missing or corrupted. Sooo..I used borrowed an original Windows Xp disk, set my CD as boot device in BIOS, rebooted. Here is where I'm stumped: I get the black screen which tells me to press any key to continue. I get the next screen which tells me that Windows is checking my system. Then I get the Windows setup screen and it startes loading files but hangs up everytime at HDT370 UDMA/ATA100 Raid Controller. I have left it over night and nothing. Also I do not get a Windows Welcome blue screen with any instructions. It just goes to the Windows setup screen and then hangs up at the same place. Sooo..its like, HELP!!! What am I doing wrong and what can I do right?

Hi davlee, I could be wrong, but it looks to me as if you need to load the Raid drivers. On a desktop you would use the old Floppy and F6 but on your emachine without a floppy I don't know.
I am sure someone here will come to your aide soon.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Install Windows XP on SATA without a Floppy (F6)

However, the reference to HDT370 UDMA/ATA100 Raid Controller suggests you do not have SATA drives and the article is irrelevant in this case. Without knowing the model no./spec of your computer it s difficult to comment further.

One suggestion is to enter the BIOS and disable any reference to RAID and try again.
Using what sort of CD - Recovery?
Even if you get this to install you will be unable to activate the installation. A copy Windows XP from a specific CD may only be installed on a single computer as stated in the EULA.

You may however use another XP CD of the same version, i.e. Home/Pro and of the same Service Pack level to effect a Repair install.

Looks like a typo. That sounds like or should I say appears to be HPT370 which would indicate you need the appropriate Highpoint Drivers for your SATA controller. Head to your motherboard Mfg's site to download same and extract them to a floppy which can be used at an F6 prompt during a repair installation.

    ;)
