I am looking for some advice/info....

Installing an old HDD on a WinXP system. When I install the HDD to my open Primary controller slave connector (with cable select jumpers), Windows XP does not give it an icon in My Computer. The BIOS sees the HDD, Device Manager sees the HDD, but how do I get an icon to show up for the newly installed (older HDD)? I want to see the drive, take all the data off of it (MP3s, music, personal data files, etc...) and reformat the drive and maybe reuse it or not (haven't decided yet. It's actually not the size drive I thought it was initially...only 15GB...I thought it was an 80GB). Anyway, where can I extend the drive letters out to Z at? I do not see any options in Device Manager for this as I did in Win98?

    Thanx.

Natotiger - Welcome to the Board :)

You may need to assign a drive letter to it using Disk Management ....

Right click My Computer icon > Manage > Disk Management. Right click on the drive > Change Drive Letter.
