Windows XP Hotfix in Programs Installed

    I ran SpyBot on my computer and now I have 26 entries when I go to Add/Remove programs , all with the name Windows Xp Hotfix. They have numbers like KB810217 and Q328310
    Can I remove these with out any problems or what are they.

    Hi lorinbc!

    They have nothing to do with SpyBotSD.

    These hotfix entries in add-remove programs should be left alone unless You have a specific problem relating to one of them.

    If You remove any of them, You will remove an Update received and installed through Windows Update.

    OTOH, you may well have hotfixes loaded that you don't need.

    KB810217 for instance (Security Bulletin MS03-051) is only needed if you use Microsoft Frontpage Server Extensions. On 2K they are enabled by default but can be turned off if not used/needed. XP loads them but doesn't turn them on. If you run either of those operating systems you probably want the hotfix. Otherwise, you probably don't.

    Q328310 (MS02-071) - needed if you have 2K SP2 or SP3. Not needed /w SP4 since it's included. XP needs it and can install it only if you have SP1 loaded.
