Got an interesting problem occurring. For my neighbor, I recently upgraded his system to SP-3 for XP and added some security tools, etc.

Before this when using XP fax, he would open the fax and then hit print and that was it. Now when he goes to print, it goes thru a Photo Printing Wizard. I need to get rid of that.

The only way to print straight to the printer is to highlight a fax without opening and click on File, Print.

The faxes that are recieved are always coverted into .tif format. When opening one of the faxes it opens in the XP Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Now that you have that info, here is what I need to know. I have totally forgotten but in XP fax when you open a fax that is received, has the default always been the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?

I installed the program on my PC at home and received a fax but IrfanView is what opened for me since I use that for opening all my images.

Also how do I get rid of the Photo Wizard and just print directly to the printer. I must assume this is a side effect of SP-3. Besides this problem, the fax works just fine from what I can see. I have read problems with fax not installing or working at all when SP-3 installed.

    Thank You,

    Victor

    - YES, but if print from there kicks up Photo Wizard.
Apparently you have tif files associated with IrfanView.

Only way I know to solve problem is to open Fax Console "“ Tools "“ Configure Fax.
While running thru the Wizard when get to: When a fax is received "“ check "“ Print it on "“ and then enter printer.

It’ll immediately print or end up in printer queue if printer is off. A copy is also stored in the inbox as usual.

    Problem Fixed

Thank you all for your help. The problem was the file associations for .tif

I switched the fax files to open with the Microsoft Office Document Imaging and the problem was solved.

With this program you can see the whole fax full size, rotate it and when you print it prints directly to the printer no Photo Print Wizard.
