I have a friend who upgraded to Windows Xp and his Zip Drive and Floppy Drive letters are not what he wants. He would like windows to see the Floppy as A drive and the Zip is A and Floppy is B . Anyone have any ideas ? We have went into Disk Managemant but could not figure out how to do it from there. Any help would be appreciated, Gary

    Drive Letters

This worked for me in NT 4 give it a try.

    - Change the drive letter of the Zip drive

Important: You must be logged in as the system administrator in order the change the drive letter of the Zip drive in Windows NT.

Insert a Zip disk into your Zip drive.

Note: You must have the Zip disk inserted in the drive before you can change the drive letter.

Click Start, select Programs, select Administrative Tools (Common) and click Disk Administrator.

Click the drive letter assigned to the Zip drive to highlight it.

Click Tools and choose Assign Drive Letter.

Note: If the Assign Drive Letter option is grayed-out and you cannot access the drop-down menu with the list of drive letters, reboot your computer with a Zip disk in your drive and retry the steps above.

Click the drop-down box and click the drive letter you want.

    Click OK.

Click Yes to confirm the drive letter change.

When you are finished, click Partition and click Exit.

Double-click My Computer to verify the changes made are correct.

If that doesn't work, check the Iomega website for the latest version of ZIP tools. The last time I saw this though it was a problem with NT Service Pack 3 and lower. It wasn't able to tell what a ZIP drive was. This was fixed with SP4 for NT. So it shouldn't be a problem with 2000 or XP.

With XP Pro (and maybe Home but not positive) you can click on start~help, put drive letter in for the search, and get to a section on changing drive letters that will give step-by-step instructions for doing just what you want.

I know very little about this sort of stuff but you might try diskmgmt.msc. When I installed XP it changed all my drive letters above C: which worked okay but taxed my limited mental resources. I was able to rearrange them using this utility which is included in XP. Diskmgmt.msc is part of the Microsoft Common Console Document and is buried down in Windows/System32.
