The current configuration on my computer shows in the taskbar one button for each program that is running, but the same button is used to all the files from such program (i.e., three Excel files that are open are shown just as one Excel button in the task bar). I wish to have one button in the task bar for each of the files that are open, even if they correspond to the same program.

    Thanks in advance,

    JRVG01

Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties. UNCheck "group similar taskbar buttons. "

Do you by any chance have TweakUI installed? If so, look in it for the same group option.

It did not work neither. The problem seems to be not that several windows are grouped but, instead, that there is just one windows and thus I cannot use alt+tab to move from file to file. Instead I am forced to go to the Window option in application's menu and then select the file that I want to see.

    Thanks,

    Roberto.

If the issue is Only with Excel....It's called a "feature" that started with version 2002 (xp) I believe. There isn't a work around that I know of.

Certainly not a 'feature' of Office 2003 - if I open a couple of Excel files I get a couple of taskbar buttons with the file name on them.

I think the important question is - is it only Excel which behaves this way? How about IE - does Ctrl+N bring up a new (duplicate) page and a new Task Bar button?

Wish I knew how you're doing that. My 2003 only shows once...

    Steve

I've not made any specific changes that I am aware of, but am running XP in Classic mode.
