Hi I hope someone can help me as im losing the will to live here.

My PC has been crashing for a good year on and off now but i put it down to the hard drive, well i have a new 160GB drive now and its still doing it.

It seams to be when im doing something labour intensive, like trying to convert one media file to another, or lately when im tring to make an image of my new drive with Norton Ghost.

    Here is my dump file:

Interestingly i just ran memtest86 in standard mode and all was ok, but when i entered the config and chose any of the different error report modes i got 1000's of errors??????

Is this telling me my memoty is chuffed? or should i just leave it on standard mode as option 9 in the config (can't remember what it is now) says my chipset is not supported?

    mark7028 - Welcome to the Board :)

I am not familiar with Memtest and suggest you cross check the results with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

The dump log indicates a memory problem - remove the memory, clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser and replace them.

If you have more than one stick of memory run with just one inserted if possible and see if the crashes continue - do the same for the other stick. Memory testers are not infallible :)

Does the computer blue screen when it crashes and is the PC set up to record a memory dump?- see this thread ....

The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

If you encounter bug check 0xA while upgrading to a later version of Windows, this error might be caused by a device driver, a system service, a virus scanner, or a backup tool that is incompatible with the new version.
