    Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to make a Windows XP CD but rather than booting and installing it from a CD, boot and install it from a USB Flash Drive or external hard drive (so it would basically be a Windows Installation CD, just on a hard drive). If it is possible, does anyone know how to do it or any good guides?

    Thanks,
    Michael

The pc Must have an option in the BIOS to be able to boot off an external drive. Most newer mobo's will do this.

Yeah, i'm fine with getting the hard drive to boot and the computers I want to boot from the HDD are all compatible with this. I just need to know how to do it.

    Thanks

I can copy all the contents of the Windows CD onto the hard drive, i'm just unsure about how to or where to get the files which would normally boot the CD onto the hard drive.
