    Hi,

I have an Alcatel USB speedtouch modem. I bought it for my Windows 2000P. Works like a charm. I installed XP Professional. down loaded the driver of speed touch for XP and installed it.

    Does not work.
During the set up if I choose DSL- always on- doesnot work.
if I choose Dial up- doesnot work.

I then reinstalled my W2KP and the sw. upgraded it to XP and upgraded the driver and went through the process- same issue.

The lights on my modem are glowing.I am able to use it with W2Kp.

Is this a known issue? A colleague tells me to use a powered hub and connect the modem!!!!!!!

    would appreciate help please.

    regards

    thomas
ps- my system is IBM Desktop

    Hiya

I am using an Alcatel Speedtouch ADSL modem (the green one that looks like a stingray) and I am using WinXP and I never had a problem getting it to connect.

Can you make sure your USB drivers are installed properly. Do you have any other USB devices? Disconnect them and put them in the USB port where the Speedtouch is and see if they work.

Keep on experimenting like this so that we can determine if it is the modem's fault or the hardware itself, or WinXP.
