    Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my Windows Vista (Home Premium) Security Center, it is turned off. And when I tried to open it, a message appears that the "Security Center Service cannot be started ". I tried to restart my computer but it's still the same. Has anybody experienced the same problem, and how did you solve it? Please advise.

    All the best,

    nra54

Do you have a Security Suite installed...Norton or McAfee or one of the others? If so, they disable Windows Security Center to avoid conflicts then take over its duties.

    Miz,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have McAfee Security Suite from the beginning but I just experienced this yesterday. I remebered this may have started when I turned on windows defender, would it be the posssible cause?

    All the best,

Hi nra54. If you want to turn Security Center on then click Start< Run type services.msc and press enter. The services window should open. Scroll down and locate the Security Center service. Right click the service and select properties. Under Startup type select the option to Automatic and press OK. Now hightlight the service and select start the service. Security Center should now be started.

As Miz said though, if Mcafee Security Suite disabled Security Center then its best to ignore that Security Center is disabled. Otherwise you can try enabling it using the procedure that I posted above.

    Hi, The Terminator,

Thank you for your expert advice. I have turned it on now. I closed the windows firewallbecause its shown that both windows and macafee firewalls are running at the same time and it may cause conflict. Would that be ok?

    All the best,

Well thats good that you were able to start security center. I am glad you shut down one of the firewalls because having 2 firewalls can cause a conflict. If you have any more questions or issues let me know.
