    Hi,
I have Windows Vista installed on a SATA Hard Drive, and when I plug it into my Windows XP-based machine the computer does not see it at all. It gets detected in the BIOS, but not in Windows. Also, when I try to run Windows XP Setup from the boot cd, it comes up saying there was no hard drives detected.

What can I do to fix this, or at least format the hard drive and put XP on?

Any help would be muchly appreciated.

    Thanks.

You'll have to load SATA drivers during Windows XP's setup (when asked to load additional drivers at the start of setup by pressing F6). Windows XP doesn't have SATA drivers included, so can't 'see' SATA drives during setup if you don't load the driver(s).
